Pride Month Art-Making

In celebration of Pride Month, I am bringing you an art-making activity inspired by the work of Robert Rauschenberg. Rauschenberg was an American artist whose mediums including painting and printmaking and who is well known using nontraditional materials and objects. As he said, “A picture is more like the real world when it’s made out of the real world.”

Note the colors and layering in Rauschenberg’s Passport. To achieve a similar effect during our activity, we will need:

  • Thick sheet of paper/cardstock
  • Disposable dish
  • Masking tape
  • Paint brush
  • Paint (at least four colors)
  • Four found or made objects—for example, a plastic fork, as disposable cup, a flower, a cut-out shape

Gather your materials, and join me for this activity!
